Do I need a referral to book my child in?
No referral is needed. You can book directly with us at any time.
Are children’s dental visits covered by Medicare?
Some children may be eligible for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS), which provides bulk-billed dental up to $1,095 over two calendar years for basic dental services.
Eligibility depends on age and whether your family receives certain government payments.

Do you bulk bill?

If your child is not eligible for CDBS, payment will be required at the time of treatment. Private health insurance may also provide a rebate depending on your level of cover.
What happens at my child’s first dental visit?
We keep it gentle and positive. The first visit is usually short and may include a quick check of teeth, gums, bite and jaw development. We also take time to help your child feel comfortable and familiar with the dental environment.
What age should my child first see a dentist?
We recommend bringing your child in by their first birthday or when their first tooth appears. Early visits help children become familiar with the dental clinic, build positive experiences, and allow us to monitor healthy development from the start.
Oral Health
When should my child start brushing their teeth?
You should start cleaning your baby’s mouth as soon as the first tooth appears, using a soft children’s toothbrush and water or a very small amount of toothpaste as advised by your dentist.
What toothpaste should my child use?
A low-fluoride children’s toothpaste is usually recommended. For children under 6, use a pea-sized amount and supervise brushing to ensure they spit and don’t swallow excess toothpaste.
Do baby teeth really matter if they fall out anyway?
Yes. Baby teeth are important for eating, speech development and guiding permanent teeth into the correct position.
Dental Anxiety + Behaviour
What if my child is nervous about the dentist?
This is very common. We use a calm, child-friendly approach and take things at your child’s pace. Our goal is to build trust and make dental visits a positive experience.
Can I stay with my child during treatment?
Yes, parents are welcome to stay with their child during appointments. We encourage a supportive and calm environment to help children feel safe.
Dental Emergencies
What should I do if my child injures a tooth?
Even minor injuries should be checked. If a tooth is knocked out or damaged, contact us immediately so we can assess and treat it promptly.
What should I do if my child has tooth pain or swelling?
If your child is experiencing tooth pain or swelling, it may indicate infection or decay that needs urgent attention. Contact us as soon as possible so we can provide prompt assessment and relief.
